Psychiatry & Integrated Behavioral Health

Care for the Whole Person—Mind, Body, and Life

At Bitterroot Health, Psychiatry Services and Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) offer two distinct approaches to supporting mental, emotional, and overall well-being that supports the whole person.

Psychiatry Services

Compassionate Mental Health Care for Our Community

Our Psychiatry Department supports the mental and emotional well-being of individuals and families throughout the Bitterroot Valley. We understand the strengths—and unique stresses—of rural life, and we are committed to providing high-quality, compassionate mental health care that supports your overall well-being.

Our Approach

We believe meaningful care begins with listening. Every patient brings a story shaped by family, work, health, and community. Our psychiatry team takes time to understand the whole picture, using a holistic, patient-centered approach grounded in evidence-based care, respect, and empathy.

Medication can be an important part of treatment, and we use it thoughtfully when appropriate. We also recognize that healing often involves more than medication alone. Personalized care plans may include therapy, wellness and lifestyle strategies, and close coordination with primary care and behavioral health services.

Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH)

Care Focused on All Your Needs

Integrated Behavioral Health brings behavioral health support directly into primary care. IBH is not separate mental health care—it is part of your overall healthcare experience. By addressing physical health alongside stress, habits, emotions, and life challenges, IBH helps you feel better and function better in everyday life.

How IBH Works

IBH services are personalized and collaborative. IBH clinicians work closely with your Primary Care Provider to consider the physical, behavioral, and emotional aspects of your concerns and help determine a plan that works best for you. IBH can be especially helpful when stress, worry, habits, or emotional concerns are affecting your health or daily life.

IBH Can Help With:

  • Anger, anxiety, and depression
  • Stress and poor sleep
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Chronic pain
  • Headaches
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Asthma
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Obesity, weight loss planning, and management
  • Exercise and healthy habit-building
  • Smoking cessation
  • Alcohol use
  • Other lifestyle changes that support overall health

Scheduling an IBH Appointment

Talk with your Primary Care Provider about whether IBH services may be helpful for you. If you and your provider agree, they will refer you to an IBH counselor as part of your care team.
