"Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital" Becomes "Bitterroot Health" - Will Open two New Locations
HAMILTON, Montana – In June of 1929 a small group of Ravalli county citizens led by Margaret Daly gathered for the first board meeting of what would become Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital. Two years later the doors of Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital would open to the public on July 1, 1931. From this vision the Hospital has grown with services now located throughout the bitterroot valley from Darby to Stevensville. Today the hospital employs more than 650 caregivers and is home to 13 clinics in addition to our flagship hospital in Hamilton, MT.
“As our community has grown so has our organization. From our roots in Hamilton we have expanded to provide services throughout the Bitterroot. Today we are excited to announce a new unifying brand and name Bitterroot Health,” said John Bishop, CEO of Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital. Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital will take the name of Bitterroot Health - Daly Hospital. Clinics and other outpatient services associated with the hospital will align with the primary name of Bitterroot Health.
“With this change, we are also extremely excited to announce the addition of two new locations to be built in Stevensville and Darby. Additional information will be forthcoming for these two new locations,” said Bishop.
“We are proud of the legacy Margaret Daly established and we stand on our history, the communities and services outside Hamilton continue to grow, and we felt the need to reflect that with a new name that shows our broader reach. This change isn’t about the future eclipsing our past; it’s about reflecting that we serve everyone. The name Bitterroot Health embraces Margaret’s mission to provide care for all and is more inclusive of our 13 clinics, specialty departments and our two new locations coming to Stevensville and Darby,” Bishop said.
Although the new name is being announced today, the official change will take place over the next several months. “A change like this takes time, especially because we want to ensure we’re doing this right and honoring our past as we evolve and move forward,” said Christina Voyles, Marketing Director for MDMH, who has previously managed health care rebrands.
“It’s common for entities to go through a name change when they’ve grown and want to ensure that everything they provide is clear. Currently MDMH has multiple different names and logos for our services and locations; the public may not realize many of our departments are part of a whole. This work will help solidify who we are and what we offer our community,” said Voyles.
MDMH will be seeking community input on services and offerings for both the Bitterroot Health – Stevensville, and Bitterroot Health – Darby Scripps clinics. To be part of the discussion, please contact or call 406-375-4589
